Mirabai Bellydance: Mirabai is a collaboration that seeks to share and represent the spirituality, power, and strength of the ancient feminine art of bellydance. Members Stacey, Lauryn, and Miranda are longtime students and current teachers and performers of Zanzibar Studio of Chattanooga TN, and collectively have over 13 years of bellydance experience. Mirabai Bellydance combines various styles of tribal dance to create a cohesive dance fusion that demonstrates the power, strength and fluidity of this feminine art. Members of Mirabai have also trained with some of the modern experts in the bellydance community, such as Mira Betz, Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Moria Chappell, Heather Stantz, Tobias Robertson, Jill Parker and Elizabeth Strong, among others. The name "Mirabai" (मीराबाई) comes from a mystical Hindu poetess from the sixteenth century. The name represents the fulfillment, empowerment and self-acceptance all women can find in their expression through dance.
